Maverick County – On 10/19/25 a TxDPS trooper pulled over a maroon Dodge dually on US 277 in Maverick County. As the vehicle halted, several people wearing camouflage ran toward nearby brush.

Authorities identified the driver as Salvador Fuentes Castillo of Eagle Pass. He was taken into custody and charged with six counts of smuggling of persons.

Agents from USBP assisted in rounding up the group, who were then placed in federal custody. Officials described the incident as another human smuggling attempt intercepted under OperationLoneStar.
