Scarperia e San Piero, Italy – On Wednesday, October 8, 2025, firefighters from Florence, along with teams from Barberino del Mugello and Borgo San Lorenzo, responded at 7:10 p.m. to a call for a missing hiker along the Via degli Dei trail in Scarperia.

The hiker had lost his way in a remote and challenging area. Two ground teams were dispatched, and the Drago 160 helicopter from the Bologna flight unit was activated. Using night vision goggles (NVG), the helicopter performed a nighttime search and quickly located the man.

Although cold, the hiker was in good condition. He was reached first by the air rescue team and then met by the ground crew, who escorted him to a vehicle before transferring him to medical personnel.
