Castle Pines, Colorado – On Friday morning at approximately 9:35 AM, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a vehicle driving erratically and striking the center median barrier on I-25 near Castle Pines while traveling at 75 MPH.
A deputy followed the reckless vehicle southbound toward the Greenland Road Exit in Larkspur, carefully managing traffic to reduce risk during the pursuit.
The Colorado State Patrol, equipped with Grappler technology, deployed the device to safely stop the vehicle. The suspect was taken into custody without injury, preventing what could have been a tragic outcome.
Douglas County deputies also have Grappler-equipped vehicles, but none were close enough to engage on Friday. Sheriff Darren Weekly praised the teamwork, saying, “We appreciate the partnership with the Colorado State Patrol, and this goes to show the usefulness of this technology. It’s also a reminder, if you drive recklessly or try to run from us, we will pursue you and we will catch you.”
The incident highlights the professionalism and coordination of Colorado State Patrol and Douglas County deputies in keeping the community safe.
