Lubbock, Texas – A video described by the Lubbock Police Department as “the most Texan video you’ll see today” shows officers chasing a suspect who ran after a surprising comment during a routine stop.

The incident involved several officers on mounted horseback encountering two men on the side of the road. An officer asked one of the men, “Would you mind if this officer behind you checks your pockets and makes sure you don’t have any narcotics or anything like that?” The man refused.

A different officer, on horseback, then added, “That’s cool, I have a narcotic-smelling horse right here.”

Upon hearing this, the man immediately ran down an alley, prompting a short pursuit. He was quickly taken into custody. Details about what happened afterward have not been disclosed.

Whether or not the Lubbock Police Department actually has narcotic-sniffing horses, this suspect certainly reacted as if they did.
