Buca, Izmir, Turkey – A dramatic video shows a wildfire blazing in Buca on August 12, 2025, as a helicopter performs water-dropping operations to contain the flames.
The fire is part of a recurring problem in the region, with authorities deploying significant resources: four aircraft, two helicopters, 15 fire trucks, two construction machines, and 99 personnel.
Officials from Orman Genel Müdürlüğü reported that the fire began in a non-forest area and is being tackled from both air and ground. Efforts are ongoing to bring the blaze under control as quickly as possible.
This wildfire follows a pattern of severe fires across Turkey, intensified by climate change, resulting in hotter, drier summers and increasingly frequent and intense fire events, as seen in July 2025 and 2024.
