U.S. Army Achieves First Ever Air-To-Air Kill Using Armed FPV Drone

Fort Rucker, USA – The U.S. Army made history by successfully executing its first-ever air-to-air kill with an armed first-person view (FPV) drone.

In a demonstration above Tabernacle Field at Fort Rucker, a Skyraider drone armed with a claymore mine engaged and destroyed an opposing unmanned aircraft system in a dramatic drone dogfight.

The Skyraider was piloted by Chief Warrant Officer 2 Nate Shea, while Chief Warrant Officer 2 Andrew Topits controlled the opposing drone.

This groundbreaking event took place ahead of the U.S. Army Unmanned Aircraft Systems Summit, marking a major leap forward in drone combat capabilities.

The demonstration highlights the Army’s growing use of innovative technology to expand its aerial warfare strategies.
