Kīlauea, Hawaii, USA – On July 20, Episode 29 of the Kīlauea summit eruption created a striking display of lava fountains beneath a morning rainbow.
The eruption episode lasted just over 13 hours.
In the early hours, misty conditions framed the glowing lava with a rainbow.
Later in the day, clearer skies provided more defined views of the volcanic activity.
Lava fountains during the event reached heights of less than 330 feet (100 meters).
