Kerr County, Texas – As heavy rain continued to pour, first responders acted swiftly across Kerr County, saving hundreds over several days. Rescue teams worked by air, land, and water, reaching people trapped in vehicles, flooded homes, and even those clinging to trees miles from where they started.
The Texas Department of Public Safety’s Aircraft Operations Division played a key role in these life-saving efforts. State, local, and federal agencies joined forces, working tirelessly to bring those in danger to safety amid the devastating floods.
Colonel Freeman F. Martin of the Texas Department of Public Safety praised the rescuers’ dedication. “The events of the last week have been devastating,” he said. “But through it all, our first responders have shown remarkable strength and determination. I am incredibly proud not only of the men and women of DPS, but of all our local, state and federal partners. Their combined work, day after day, speaks volumes about the spirit of Texans, and it is a true honor to work among them.”
