Lincoln County, Missouri – Body camera footage has captured the tense and emotional moment when deputies and K9 Nicky located a missing 2-year-old boy deep in the woods.
The child had wandered off into a heavily wooded area on June 3.
Searchers began by identifying small footprints, which pointed them in the right direction.
Deputy Rumple and K9 Nicky were brought in to follow the trail.
After about 10 minutes of tracking, the search team heard the child crying.
They rushed toward the sound and found the toddler safe.
He was quickly reunited with his family.
“This footage highlights not only the outstanding tracking capabilities of K-9 Nicky, but also the sharp backwoods skills of Corporal McPike,” said the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials praised the teamwork, experience, and training that led to the successful rescue.
The family later visited the sheriff’s office to thank the deputies and brought treats for K9 Nicky.
