Ship Catches Fire and Sinks Leaving Coast Guard to Save Survivor

Fiumicino, Italy – A boat sank off the coast of Fiumicino, a coastal town near Rome, leaving one survivor in the water. The incident occurred early Wednesday, June 25, 2025, about six miles from the old lighthouse.

The survivor, clinging to debris, was rescued by the Italian Coast Guard. Emergency teams responded quickly after a 9:30 AM distress call, navigating rough seas to save the naufrago.

The nine-meter motorboat caught fire before sinking. Authorities are still investigating the fire’s cause. The Coast Guard and firefighters are monitoring the site for environmental risks.

Fuel leaking from the sunken vessel raises concerns about marine pollution. A specialized anti-pollution vehicle is on standby to contain any spills, protecting the surrounding waters.

The rescued survivor, whose identity is not public, is in stable condition. The Coast Guard’s swift response in challenging conditions ensured the dramatic rescue.
