Riverview, Florida – A late-night laser strike on a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office helicopter ended in arrest.

Just after midnight on Saturday, June 14, 2025, the aircraft was conducting surveillance over Riverview.

Suddenly, it was struck several times by a powerful green laser beam.

The beam temporarily impaired the crew’s visibility and created a dangerous situation in the sky.

Deputies traced the laser to a mobile home on the 10000 block of Johanna Avenue.

There, they arrested 58-year-old James Cardamone.

He was charged with Misuse of a Laser Lighting Device.

The laser used in the attack was recovered at the scene.

Officials say the reckless act could have led to tragedy.
