Sailors Return To Naval Station Rota To Tearful Hugs And Joyful Reunions With Loved Ones

Naval Station Rota, Spain – On June 10, 2025, U.S. Sailors assigned to USS Oscar Austin (DDG 79) returned to Naval Station Rota after completing their first patrol in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations.

The ship’s mission supported the warfighting effectiveness, lethality, and readiness of U.S. Naval Forces Europe Africa, defending U.S., Allied, and partner interests in the region.

As the sailors disembarked, families and friends gathered to welcome them back with heartfelt hugs and kisses. The emotional reunion was filled with smiles and tears, capturing the deep bonds shared after months apart.

The warm welcome showed the strength of community and support behind those who serve, making the homecoming a truly special moment.
