Garage Fire Engulfs Home And Vehicles In Grand Terrace Leaving Family Displaced

Grand Terrace, California – A raging fire tore through a garage on McClaren Street Tuesday afternoon, spreading to a home and multiple vehicles, and leaving a family homeless.

San Bernardino County Fire crews responded around 2:19 p.m. to find the garage fully engulfed. Flames rapidly extended to the main residence and several cars parked in the driveway.

Firefighters launched an aggressive attack to contain the blaze. Crews also performed vertical ventilation on the roof to release heat and smoke.

The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes.

Twenty-four personnel responded, including five engines, one truck company, a battalion chief, a fire investigator, and a public information officer. The Colton Fire Department provided one engine.

Tragically, a family dog was found dead inside the home after the fire was extinguished. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.

The American Red Cross is assisting four displaced adults and one child.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the San Bernardino County Fire Marshal’s office.
