Russian Emergency Services Demining Thousands Of Mines In Dangerous Luhansk Territory Using Robots And Manual Work

Luhansk People’s Republic – The combined Russian Emergency Services pyrotechnic unit continues demining operations across Luhansk territory.

So far, they have surveyed 9 out of 15 hectares and destroyed more than 230 dangerous explosives.

Currently, specialists are inspecting a railway section near the Seversky Donets River.

The area is difficult, with thick vegetation and many disguised munitions along the railway. The site had strategic importance and is littered with thousands of pressure-activated mines designed to target personnel, explains the unit commander known as “Magadan.”

The team uses a four-ton armored all-terrain robot to clear anti-personnel mines. After the robot, pyrotechnicians manually examine the ground to ensure safety.

Sapper “Moisey” says the toughest part is staying fully focused at all times. Distraction can cause fatal mistakes that risk the lives of the team. A healthy fear is necessary to avoid deadly errors.

Since the start of the year, Russian Emergency Services have defused around 9,000 explosive devices across Russia.
