Appleton, Wisconsin – A deer that leapt through a window into an empty apartment in Appleton later crashed back out through another window, right in front of police officers waiting outside.
Footage released by the Appleton Police Department from an officer’s body camera shows officers peering through the windows of the brick building before the deer bursts out through the glass and bounds away across the lawn and into the street.
No one was home at the time, and the deer left the area appearing to be uninjured, police said in a post on Saturday, October 24. Officers contacted the landlord and resident, who dealt with the broken windows.
“While a deer entering an apartment is certainly unusual, increased deer movement this time of year is not,” the department said, noting that October and November are the months when most deer-vehicle collisions occur in Wisconsin as the animals become more active during the breeding season.
