Edgewood, New Mexico – Marble-size hail pelted Edgewood on Friday night, October 23, covering a backyard in a thick white layer as a strong thunderstorm moved through central New Mexico.
X user Troy Waters filmed the storm from their back door, as hailstones and heavy rain streaked through the dark and piled up across the ground around a lit garden arch.
“Marble size hail heavy rain in Edgewood tonight,” the filmer wrote.
The National Weather Service had warned that evening of strong thunderstorms in the Albuquerque area to the west, bringing wind gusts of up to 55 mph and penny-size hail.
Forecasters later issued a flood watch for much of central and northern New Mexico, including Edgewood, warning that flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall was possible through late Saturday.
