Gaza Strip – Israeli forces said they sealed and destroyed an underground tunnel route about 1.5 kilometers long that crossed the so-called yellow line in southern Gaza.
Footage released by the Israel Defense Forces on October 15 takes viewers through the narrow passage, lined with curved concrete arches and flat wall panels over a sandy floor. A wire runs along one wall, sections of the lining are broken away to bare earth, and the floor near the end is littered with plastic bottles, wrappers and broken wooden planks.
According to the military, engineering troops from the Southern Brigade of the Gaza Division worked with the elite Yahalom combat engineering unit on the operation. The IDF said rooms used by Hamas militants to stay in were found along the route.
The military said its forces are deployed in the area in line with the ceasefire agreement and will keep working to remove any immediate threat.
