Pacific, Missouri – Firefighters rescued seven dogs from a burning mobile home after a microwave exploded in the kitchen and started a fire Monday afternoon.

Crews were dispatched between about 12:50 and 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 8 to the 1900 block of Dandelion Drive, where heavy smoke and flames were reported on arrival.

First-person footage shows a firefighter moving through thick smoke and entering the home through a sliding door. Rooms were barely visible as crews searched the smoke-filled interior.

Captain Smith said five dogs were rescued during the first search. Two more were found during a second search, bringing the total to seven. All seven dogs survived.

Meramec Ambulance District treated the animals using pet oxygen masks.

Footage shows firefighters working around a red engine and a Pacific Fire Protection District aerial, with mutual-aid crews assisting from Boles FPD, Eureka FPD and Metro West FPD.

The kitchen suffered heavy damage, and the home was condemned, leaving the owner displaced. No human injuries were reported.

Stray Rescue of St. Louis later took five of the dogs for foster.
