Dallas, Texas – Animal services workers rescued a raccoon that had been wandering a neighborhood for several days with a mayonnaise jar stuck over its head.

Locals named the raccoon Mayonesa after repeatedly spotting her in the residential area. She had managed to evade several attempts to capture her.

On Monday morning, two Dallas Animal Services officers found Mayonesa in a tree near an abandoned house and waited below for her to come down.

When she eventually descended, an officer approached from behind and safely captured her.

Mayonesa was taken to Dallas Animal Services, where she was sedated and given fluids before the jar was removed.

“Aside from dehydration after several days without food and water, she was in remarkably good condition and full of energy,” Animal Services said.

Mayonesa is now being cared for by Texas Metro Wildlife and will soon be returned to the wild.
