Injured Fawn Trapped In Metal Fence Rescued By Nebraska Deputies

Elk City, Nebraska – Douglas County sheriff’s deputies rescued a fawn that became trapped between two bars of a metal fence at Elk City Cemetery on Thursday morning.

The fawn had struggled desperately to free itself, leaving triangular patches of red, raw skin in front of its hips where its fur had been rubbed away.

Deputies bent the metal bars apart to release the exhausted animal. They then tried to corral it so an animal control officer could evaluate its condition.

The fawn had other plans and ran into a nearby field.

The sheriff’s office said viewers should not be too concerned about the fawn’s welfare, noting that “deer are noted to be incredible resilient.”

“It is expected to re-grow its hair and make a full recovery,” the sheriff’s office said.
