Clearwater, Florida – Officers rushed into a pond to rescue a woman after her car crashed into the water and began rapidly submerging.
Body camera footage shows a white car partially underwater as two officers in dark uniforms enter the pond and move toward the driver’s side. They attempted to open the doors, but after finding the door locked, one officer broke the driver’s window.
Officers Jonathan Hurt and Hunter Smaldone pulled the unresponsive 45-year-old woman from the vehicle as the water continued rising around the car. They carried her to the grassy bank, placed her on the ground, and provided assistance while confirming no other occupants were inside.
The woman was transported to Mease Countryside Hospital for treatment. A fire department diver later confirmed she was the only person inside the vehicle.
