Historic Rainfall Triggers Flood Emergency In New York As Neighbors Join Rescue Efforts

Rensselaer County, New York – Video filmed by Sheriff Kyle Bourgault highlights the emergency response after major flooding impacted the region. The footage shows first responders and neighbors providing aid and care to people affected by the storm.

On July 29, 2026, the Capital Region received record rainfall, with Albany recording 5.45 inches in a single day. The heavy rain caused widespread flooding, road closures, and numerous emergency calls.

First responders and community members assisted residents affected by the storm.
