Fire Tornado Towers Over Utah Wildfire As Flames Explode Across Hills

Near Kanosh, Millard County, Utah – A massive fire whirl towers over the landscape as the Wide Mouth 2 Fire burns through hills and dry vegetation south of Kanosh.

The dramatic column of dark smoke and fire rises high above the ground, with intense flames visible at its base. Scattered trees and green vegetation can be seen beneath the hazy sky as the fire burns across the landscape.

The lightning-caused fire started on the evening of July 27, 2026. By July 28–29, it had rapidly expanded to an estimated 4,000–5,000 acres with 0% containment amid extreme fire behavior and gusty winds.

Kanosh was placed under Level 1 READY evacuation status because of the potential danger. SET and GO evacuation orders were issued for areas south of town, including Turkey Track Lane and Cemetery Road.

An evacuation center was established in Fillmore, while a Type 3 Incident Management Team was ordered to assume command.
