Cadalso de los Vidrios, Community of Madrid, Spain – Guardia Civil Mountain Groups provided water to animals at the Santuario Vegan during the large Sierra Oeste wildfires in late July 2026.

The rescue center, which houses around 200 animals, faced a critical situation as fire and smoke limited access. Some animals could not be fully evacuated.

In the footage, members of the Guardia Civil Mountain Groups are seen hydrating the animals as emergency operations continued in the area.

The fire was contained before reaching the sanctuary’s pastures. The evacuation order for the municipality was later lifted.

Authorities continued working in the area and urged people to follow emergency instructions to avoid loss of life.
