Hero Police Officer Saves Choking Toddler After Finding Her Unconscious And Not Breathing

Southmayd, TX – Shortly before 1:00 a.m., Officer Scott Barrett responded to a home after a report that a 23-month-old girl was choking.

When Barrett arrived, the toddler’s mother ran toward him carrying the child. Barrett saw that the girl was not breathing, was unconscious and had blood coming from her mouth and nose.

Barrett immediately took the child and began hitting her back to clear her airway. His efforts worked, and the girl began crying and breathing again.

An ambulance transported the toddler to Texoma Medical Center. She was able to return home a few hours later.
