Avon, Ohio – On the morning of July 19, 2026, Officers Steve Vogel and David Orlando responded to a call about an owl that had become entangled in a soccer net.

Video shows the Avon police officers carefully working to free the bird from the net.

After the officers successfully released it, the owl flew away unharmed.

The rescue was described as another example of the service provided by Avon Police Department members to residents, visitors and local wildlife.
