Wheeler County, Oregon – The lightning-caused Rowe Creek Complex, which started around July 15, 2026, has burned hundreds of thousands of acres in north-central Oregon.

Video filmed by the Oregon State Fire Marshal shows firefighters and equipment operating amid active wildfire conditions, with smoke, flames and dry terrain visible during an intense period of fire activity.

As of late July, the Rowe Creek Complex remained a major incident with significant resources assigned. Multiple fires had merged, while evacuations continued in nearby areas.

Resources were also sent to the Grasshopper Fire in Wasco County and to Warm Springs to help protect communities there.

Officials warned that hot, dry conditions can cause fires to take off quickly and urged residents to follow local sheriff’s offices and evacuation orders when issued.
