Paros, Greece – A major wildfire broke out around midday on July 28, 2026, near the Kampi area and landfill site on the island’s southern side.

Video filmed by Pierre James shows intense orange flames racing across a hillside at night, with thick smoke lighting up the sky. Houses are visible in the foreground as a fire truck with emergency lights responds on the road.

Vehicles with headlights are seen as the fire line advances along the ridge, with the blaze spreading across the hillside under the cover of darkness.

Strong winds pushed the flames overnight, forcing the evacuation of multiple villages, including Agios Charalambos, Kambi, Bougados, Aneratzia, Agkairia and Trypiti.

Dozens of firefighters, special forest units and aerial support have been battling the blaze.
