Sierra Norte de Guadalajara, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain – The La Mierla Fire has continued burning for a sixth consecutive day, with Spanish Air Force aircraft carrying out intensive aerial operations against the blaze.
Video shows yellow Canadair amphibious planes flying low over steep, forested mountains as large columns of dark gray smoke rise from the active fire. Flames move along ridgelines while the aircraft prepare water drops over the burning landscape.
More than 370 water drops have already been completed, releasing over 2.2 million liters of water onto the fire.
The blaze has affected approximately 29,000 hectares and forced the evacuation of dozens of villages. Firefighters and military units continue working to hold the perimeter after the fire threatened to cross into Soria.
