North Central Oregon – The Rowe Creek Complex Fire has surged to 126,978 acres as local and statewide fire crews continue battling the wildfire.

The Rowe Creek Complex includes multiple active fires in Wheeler, Wasco, and Crook counties. Many have merged into the Crosswhite Fire, while the Camel Hump Fire, Deep Canyon Fire, and Parrish Fires remain separate. The complex remained 0% contained as of Sunday afternoon.

The Crosswhite Fire alone has grown to 113,046 acres. Officials believe the fires began after lightning ignited grass, trees, and other vegetation.

The Wheeler County Sheriff’s Office has issued Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 “Go Now” evacuation orders for affected communities.

On Friday, Oregon Governor Tina Kotek invoked the Conflagration Act to direct additional statewide resources to the firefighting effort.

Dry, hot conditions continue to challenge crews working to contain the fires.
