Southlake, Texas – A routine traffic stop on State Highway 114 turned into a life-threatening emergency when Corporal Swisher responded to a vehicle with heavy smoke coming from it.

After directing the vehicle safely onto the shoulder, flames suddenly erupted from underneath the car.

Realizing the driver was still inside, Corporal Swisher immediately moved toward the burning vehicle, pulled the driver to safety, and helped prevent a tragic outcome.

The intense moments were captured on body camera and dashcam footage, showing the officer’s quick response during the emergency.

For his courage, quick thinking, and decisive actions, Corporal Swisher received the Southlake Police Department’s Meritorious Conduct Award.
