Hillsborough County, Florida – A driver was arrested after attempting to switch seats with his passenger during a traffic stop near the intersection of North Florida Avenue and West Country Club Drive on July 8, 2026.
During the stop, the driver changed seats with the passenger, but the vehicle was left in reverse and rolled backward into a deputy’s patrol vehicle.
After the crash, the driver exited from the right-side door of the vehicle and acted as if he was not the person behind the wheel before walking away from the scene.
Deputies quickly located and arrested Farnardo Alexander Jr., 30, who faces several felony charges, including leaving the scene of a crash with property damage.
Body camera and dash camera footage shows the traffic stop escalating as the vehicle rolls into the patrol car, followed by the seat switch attempt and the driver leaving the area.
Sheriff Chad Chronister said, “Trying to avoid responsibility only makes matters worse. If you choose to flee or deceive deputies, expect to face the consequences. In Hillsborough County, we will hold you accountable for your actions.”
