Bisbal d Emporda, Spain – Aerial footage from Catalan firefighters shows intense operations as crews battle a major wildfire spreading through the forested hills of the protected Les Gavarres massif.
A large yellow helicopter flies low over dense green terrain, releasing a steady stream of water or fire retardant onto an active fire line along a hillside. Thick smoke rises in heavy dark grey and brown plumes, spreading across the sky and partially obscuring the landscape as the fire advances under strong winds and creates additional flare-ups.
The update states that priority efforts are focused on the third section of the left flank in order to prevent further expansion. Fire crews have also requested additional FOCAS-type amphibious aircraft to support ongoing aerial operations.
The wildfire, which began near Bisbal d Emporda, has burned thousands of hectares and triggered widespread emergency measures, including confinement orders in nearby coastal areas. Ground and air teams continue coordinated efforts to stabilize the fire perimeter.
