Woman Police Officer Crying After Brutal Attack Where Killer Smashes Bottle Over Her Head

Newton Abbot, England, UK – A man has been jailed after a violent attack on a female police officer during an incident at a property on Drake Road.

Guy Pottle, 39, of no fixed abode in Exeter, was sentenced to 10 years and six months in prison, along with an additional five years on extended licence, after pleading guilty to attempted grievous bodily harm and unlawful wounding.

During the incident on Tuesday 10 February, the court heard that Pottle smashed a glass bottle over Police Constable Alice Beer’s head and then tried to throw her from a first-floor balcony.

The judge said Pottle poses a significant risk to the public and ordered that he must serve two-thirds of his custodial sentence before becoming eligible for parole, which would only be granted if he is considered safe.

After returning to work, PC Beer said the incident would continue to affect her in all aspects of her life, especially while on duty. She said she was simply trying to do her job and prevent harm when she was met with extreme violence.

A senior police commander praised her bravery, saying she showed remarkable courage during the incident and has remained determined not to let it define her career.
