San Vicente de Arganza, León, Spain – A fast-moving wildfire has spread across steep hills in the El Bierzo region, with helicopter footage showing the scale and intensity of the blaze as firefighting crews begin suppression operations.

Video filmed by ATBRIF shows the fire from an aerial helicopter perspective, with thick smoke rising from forested slopes as flames move through dry vegetation and scattered trees. Dense gray-white smoke spreads across valleys and nearby hills under partly cloudy skies.

The footage captures active fire lines advancing through mixed terrain, including both woodland and open areas. At moments, the proximity of firefighting operations is visible, including a brief appearance of a gloved hand in the aerial recording.

The situation was documented at 18:08 on June 23, 2026, when BRIF Tabuyo teams arrived and began suppression work under the Spanish Ministry for Ecological Transition. Brigadas de Refuerzo contra Incendios Forestales units were deployed as part of the response.

The wildfire began around June 19, likely caused by lightning. It had previously been contained but reignited, leading to a level 1 emergency declaration and the activation of additional BRIF teams from Asturias.

Fire crews are working in steep terrain, using direct attack methods, firebreaks, and aerial support to slow the spread of the fire toward nearby communities including Ocero and Vega de Espinareda.

The helicopter footage highlights both the intensity of the wildfire and the coordinated response by emergency crews under difficult and changing conditions.
