Lake Huron Mayday As Stuck Sailboat Triggers Coast Guard Medevac

Lake Huron, Michigan – The Coast Guard conducted a medical evacuation of a 62-year-old man early Tuesday morning after his 32-foot sailing vessel became stuck on Lake Huron south of Calcite, Michigan.

Coast Guard Sector Northern Great Lakes watchstanders received a mayday call on channel 16 at 9:36 p.m. from the man in distress.

The caller reported that his vessel had sustained damage to the keel but was not taking on any water.

The Coast Guard later carried out the medevac after the sailing vessel became stuck on Lake Huron.
