Effingham, Illinois — Video filmed by X user JoNation shows a large, dark tornado funnel dropping from heavy storm clouds over an industrial truck stop area as severe weather moves through central Illinois.

In the foreground, a man wearing a gray t-shirt and jeans stood in a wide parking lot filled with semi-trucks, recording the tornado on his phone as it advanced in the distance.

Other individuals were also seen filming the storm from the same area near white buildings and truck service facilities, while the clearly defined funnel loomed against a dark and turbulent sky.

The June 17, 2026, tornado in Effingham formed part of a broader severe weather outbreak across central Illinois.

The storm caused damage to buildings, uprooted trees, and scattered debris throughout the affected area. Injuries were confirmed, although no fatalities were reported.

The footage captured the intensity of the tornado as it moved through the region.
