Stone Harbor, United States – A dramatic shelf cloud moved over Stone Harbor, New Jersey, on the evening of 10 June 2026, signaling an approaching thunderstorm along the Jersey Shore.
The video was filmed by X user Zeke Orzech looking down 96th Street as the storm system advanced.
A massive, dark, horizontal cloud formation stretches low across the sky like a rolling wave, dominating the upper part of the scene. Its heavy, textured underside stands out against the overcast sky as it moves over the coastal town.
Below, a normal street scene continues along 96th Street. Multi-story buildings line both sides of the road, including a beige apartment-style structure and smaller homes in blue and gray tones. Parked vehicles, including a white SUV and a red SUV, sit along curbs and in nearby areas while other cars move through the street as the storm approaches.
Yellow pedestrian and school zone signs are visible along the roadway, along with overhead power lines crossing the frame. On the right side, a brick building displays a “FRED’S LIQUOR STORE” sign, with American flags hanging nearby. Trees and streetlights frame the coastal neighborhood as the cloud front advances overhead.
Shelf clouds, also known as arcus clouds, form along the leading edge of a thunderstorm when cooler air spreads outward and forces warmer air to rise. In this case, the formation marked the incoming edge of severe weather, often associated with strong winds, heavy rain, or lightning.
The striking cloud structure served as a visible warning as the system moved across coastal New Jersey, with conditions expected to change as the storm progressed.
