Edinburgh, Scotland – A video posted on 9 June 2026 shows an anti-immigration protest march moving through the city centre near Waverley station and Princes Street.

The footage, filmed from within the crowd on a damp evening, captures dozens of protesters walking together along wet streets. Most are dressed in casual clothing, including hoodies, jackets, jeans, and caps.

In the foreground, a man wearing a black jacket, light blue jeans, and a dark cap plays a black wind instrument described as a flute or whistle-style instrument while marching. The original post caption reads: “Making the noise”.

Scottish Saltire flags are waved throughout the crowd, while at least one Union Jack is also visible. Blue smoke and flares can be seen rising near the Scott Monument spire as protesters move through the city centre. Many participants are also filming the march on their phones.

The demonstration formed part of a wave of protests across several Scottish cities, including Glasgow, Aberdeen, and Ayr. The protests erupted following a knife attack in Belfast, Northern Ireland, which sparked anger over immigration, crime, and integration issues.

In Edinburgh, protesters gathered at St Andrew Square before marching along Princes Street. Participants chanted slogans, waved flags, and used blue smoke effects as they moved through the city.

The flute player featured in the video was part of the group “making the noise” to draw attention during the march near Waverley station and other city landmarks.

Reports described the protests as involving masked demonstrators and said the events drew condemnation from John Swinney, who called the scenes “unacceptable.” Counter-protests by anti-racism groups also took place in Edinburgh on the same day.

The video has attracted tens of thousands of views online. No injuries or major incidents are visible in the footage, and the author of the post stated that the video is free for anyone to use.
