Badesi, Sardinia, Italy – A cow that ended up in the waters of the Coghinas River was rescued in a specialized operation carried out by firefighters.
The animal was stranded in the river in the Badesi area of northern Sardinia, prompting a response from the Vigili del Fuoco, including divers from the Tempio Pausania unit.
The original post caption reads: “A cow that ended up in the waters of the Coghinas River in Badesi was rescued by firefighters. Divers and the Tempio Pausania team recovered it using a special technique, employing underwater lifting balloons.”
Firefighters operated from an inflatable boat while others worked directly in the water beside the partially submerged cow. They attached and inflated underwater lifting balloons around the animal to provide buoyancy and help guide it toward the riverbank.
The coordinated team used ropes and adjustments from both the boat and the water to steer the cow safely toward shallow shore.
The rescue was completed successfully, with the cow brought safely back to land.
No injuries were reported to the animal or the rescuers.
