Detroit, United States – A trio of teenagers linked to multiple violent crimes fled police in a high-speed pursuit that ended in a head-on crash with a patrol vehicle.
Authorities said the suspects were connected to five armed carjackings, three non-fatal shootings, and a recent homicide before the chase began.
The pursuit started when Michigan State Police canine units located the suspect vehicle near 8 Mile Road. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled.
Dash camera footage shows multiple police units involved as the chase moved through Detroit, reaching speeds of up to 95 mph.
The pursuit continued into the area of Hessel and Sunderland, where troopers attempted to box in the vehicle on a dead-end road.
An attempted pit maneuver failed, causing two Michigan State Police patrol vehicles to crash into each other and sustain damage.
Afterward, the suspect vehicle turned onto Hessel Street and crashed head-on into another Michigan State Police patrol car.
All three teenagers were taken into custody. Police said two firearms were recovered from the vehicle. The driver was an 18-year-old male, and the passengers were aged 18 and 17.
One trooper was transported to hospital as a precaution and later released. No other injuries were reported among officers, police canines, or the public.
Investigations by Detroit Police and Michigan State Police are ongoing.
