A separate late afternoon update places the fire at 650 acres, with a slow to moderate rate of spread moving eastward.

An earlier update shows the fire at 300 acres, with 0 percent containment and a critical rate of spread requiring extended attack operations.

Border 6 Fire is a cross border wildfire that began in Mexico on June 1, 2026, near the Tijuana River drainage in the Marron Valley area, about 6 miles south of Dulzura in San Diego County. It then spread north into the United States, burning in remote, rugged terrain within the Otay Mountain Wilderness.

As of the latest official update from June 3, 2026, the fire has burned a total of 2,617 acres, including 1,625 acres in the United States and 992 acres in Mexico, and is 5 percent contained.

Evacuation warnings were issued for several zones in southern San Diego County near Dulzura, and a smoke advisory was also put in place. No structures are currently threatened and no injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Firefighting efforts include CAL FIRE, San Diego County Fire, engines, hand crews, helicopters and air tankers operating in steep and difficult terrain.
