Denver Streets Turn Into Rivers As Storm Floods City Roads

Denver, United States – Significant street flooding was reported on Steele Street in Denver, Colorado, during a severe thunderstorm on June 1, 2026.

Heavy rainfall transformed the roadway into a fast-moving stream, with water fully covering the road surface and flowing with strong force. Hail was visible on the ground and within the moving water.

The accumulation of hail also blocked storm drains, worsening the flooding and increasing water buildup across the street.

The footage captures the severity of the conditions, including difficult driving conditions caused by rapidly rising water levels.

The storm was part of a strong round of thunderstorms that moved through the Denver metro area on June 1, bringing large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rain.

Widespread urban flooding followed, with hail buildup contributing to blocked drainage systems in several neighborhoods, including areas around Steele Street.

Some roads became temporarily impassable, and drivers were advised to avoid low-lying areas as conditions deteriorated.

Flood warnings were in effect for parts of the metro area at the time of the storm.
