East Amherst, United States – Video filmed by X user Bad Beat King captures a bright meteor streaking across the early morning sky over East Amherst, New York, at around 5:15 a.m. on May 27, 2026.
The doorbell camera footage shows a brilliant white-orange streak of light suddenly appearing high in the dark predawn sky. The fireball rapidly moves from left to right before breaking apart and vanishing.
The camera’s night-vision mode clearly records the intense flash and glowing trail as the object tears across the sky.
The clip was posted with the caption “From my doorbell cam”.
Meteorologist Patrick Hammer reported receiving multiple accounts of an explosion, flash of light, and rumbling that were seen and heard across the area, describing it as a possible meteor.
The American Meteor Society also received dozens of reports from Western New York and parts of Ontario following the event.
