Dog Rescued From Rocky Riverbank In Dramatic Potomac Fireboat Operation

Washington, D.C., United States – Video filmed by Lieutenant James Sheehan shows DC Fireboat 4 carrying out a rescue on the Potomac River above Key Bridge in Washington, D.C.

The red-and-black fireboat carefully moves close to a rocky shoreline along a tree-lined riverbank as firefighters in uniform prepare to reach the rocks.

On the shoreline, a wet, golden-brown dog, described as appearing to be a Labradoodle or similar breed, had become stranded.

Firefighters step onto the rocks, where one carefully approaches the animal, secures it, and brings it safely back to the boat.

The dog is then returned to its owner.

The operation was shared with the message: “A dog that became separated from its owner ended up on the rocks along the Potomac River above Key Bridge. Good samaritans brought this to the attention of authorities, and Fireboat 4 came to the rescue, retrieved the pup and returned it to the owner.”

The rescue highlights a coordinated response on the river that resulted in the safe recovery of the stranded animal.
