Violent 6.9 Earthquake Rocks Chile Copper Mine During Work Shift

Calama, Chile – Video filmed by X user The Thunder ov God shows violent shaking inside the Minera Spence copper mine facility in Calama, northern Chile, during the 6.9 magnitude earthquake on May 25, 2026.

The handheld footage, recorded from inside a workers’ change room or rest area, captures intense tremors as the entire structure shakes for several seconds.

Benches, safety equipment, railings, doors, and hanging signs can be seen swaying and rattling as the quake strikes. The floor and walls move noticeably while the person filming pans the camera unsteadily around the room.

The video also shows corrugated metal walls, windows with blinds, safety posters, and industrial equipment shaking during the powerful tremors.

The person filming, who was working inside the mine at the time, recorded the footage at approximately 17:52 local time and confirmed it was taken at Minera Spence.

The earthquake caused power outages in the area.
