Homes Violently Shake As 6.9 Earthquake Strikes Northern Chile

Calama, Chile – Video filmed by X user Paola Acuña shows violent shaking inside a home in Calama, northern Chile, during the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck on May 25, 2026, at 17:52 local time.

Furniture, hanging lights, walls, and objects inside the room sway and rattle intensely as the ground shakes for several seconds.

The camera moves unsteadily while the person filming captures the powerful tremors in real time. The poster said the area was left without electricity immediately after the earthquake.

The footage was posted shortly after the event with the caption: “Earthquake in Calama 17:52 25.05.2026 Now we are without electrical power.”

The video is one of the clearest interior recordings from Calama during the quake.

The earthquake had its epicenter about 20 kilometers northwest of the city and was felt across northern Chile, southern Peru, and parts of Bolivia.

No major damage or casualties were reported, though power outages and minor incidents occurred across the region.
