Calama, Chile – Video filmed by X user Alejandra shows intense shaking inside a home during the powerful 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck near Calama in northern Chile’s Antofagasta region on the afternoon of May 25, 2026.
Furniture, lights, and objects inside the room can be seen swaying and rattling violently as the ground shakes for several seconds.
The person filming struggles to hold the camera steady while capturing the strong tremors in real time.
The footage was posted shortly after the main quake with the caption: “Here is the last video of the 6.9 earthquake in Calama — observe how it moves!”
The earthquake’s epicenter was located about 20 kilometers northwest of Calama at a depth of approximately 100 to 114 kilometers.
The quake was felt across northern Chile and parts of southern Peru and Bolivia.
No major damage or casualties were reported. However, authorities reported power outages, fallen objects, and some minor structural issues. Classes in Calama were suspended the following day as a precaution.
