Cockroach Bay, United States – Two men stranded in the open waters of Cockroach Bay were rescued after a disabled boat left them unable to call for help during the early hours of May 19, 2026.

Around 1:30 a.m., aviation and marine units responded after the boat became disabled when its battery failed, followed by the loss of the men’s phone power, leaving them without communication.

The vessel, a white boat, was located by deputies who then towed it safely back to a boat ramp.

The rescue was carried out by aviation and marine teams working together to reach the stranded boat and bring it back to shore.

Authorities later reminded boaters that as Memorial Day weekend approaches, safety checks are essential, including ensuring equipment is working, devices are charged, and reliable communication methods are available before going out on the water.
