Blowing Dirt Reduces Visibility To Near Zero On North Dakota Highway

North Dakota, United States – Low to no visibility was reported in northwest North Dakota due to blowing dirt conditions affecting travel.

At 1:30 p.m. on May 14, 2026, conditions were recorded following a crash in Williams County on Highway 85 near mile marker 212.

Blowing dirt created hazardous driving conditions across the area, severely limiting visibility on roadways.

Authorities urged people to stay home if possible due to the dangerous travel conditions.

Drivers who must travel were advised to slow down, use headlights, increase following distance, and remain prepared for rapidly changing conditions.
